My Story

I'm taking on the 100 Challenge for JDRF, the charity that funds research to treat, prevent and cure type 1 diabetes.

I am walking, running or cross-training my way to 100 miles in the month of October. (10 minutes on the cross-trainer = 1 mile of distance)

I am also doing this for Diabetes UK and have a separate fundraiser on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/donate/453218455929392/?fundraiser_source=external_url), so please don't donate twice - you can choose which you donate to although both are obviously fantastic charities.

In July, my gorgeous little boy, Charlie, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. He's only 7, has already been dealing with coeliac disease for the past year, and he now has to cope with multiple daily fingerpricks and insulin injections.

This condition affects 400,000 people in the UK, with over 29,000 of them children. JDRF aims to create a world without type 1 diabetes. Until that day, your support is vital to help fund world-class research, improving treatments until JDRF finds the cure.

2021 has been a phenomenal year for JDRF in regards to research progress. The immunotherapy drug Teplizamab which can delay type 1 for up to 3 years is being reviewed by the FDA thanks to JDRF research. Alongside the Artificial Pancreas App technology being trialled for the NHS. However, funding has declined due to the impact of Covid. Now, more than ever, we need your support to keep this momentum going so that we can find even better treatments and eventually a cure.

Please support me and JDRF by sponsoring my JDRF 100 Challenge.

Thank you!
